Near the end of WWII, the leader of a small force of Nazi saboteurs covertly orders his second in command to pirate a Victory ship en route to Australia. The ship’s cargo holds the key to rebuilding Germany from the ashes of the Third Reich. After killing the crew, the agent sinks the ship during a storm off the coast of Maui and swims ashore – unaware that the ship and its secret cargo will drift miles away before settling to the ocean floor.

Decades later, Steve Rothman, a Maui SCUBA boat operator, discovers a sunken Victory ship off the coast of Kihei. That night he and one of his clients die of carbon monoxide poisoning during a dive.

Grant MacDunn, a maritime lawyer for Lloyds of London and a close family friend of the Rothmans, travels to Maui to investigate the cause of the strange homicides and the role that the discovery of the ship plays in the deaths. MacDunn and Kay Rothman, Steve’s sister, embark on a fast-paced adventure that takes them from the deep waters off south Maui to Vancouver, Utah and back to Hawaii in search of Steve’s killers and the answer to the mystery of the fatal Victory ship.
